Clinical Haematology Day Care Services and Outpatient Clinics

Day Care Services

The Clinical Haematology Day Unit is accessed via the Dunmanway Day Unit. Day care services delivered to patients include blood transfusion, platelet transfusion, administration of iv antibiotics, plasmapheresis, stem cell harvesting,venesection and bone marrow sampling. The unit is open Monday- Friday, 9a.m.- 5p.m.

The Dunmanway Day Unit (link to oncology page to avoid duplication) provides cancer chemotherapy to patients with haematological cancers e.g. leukaemias, myeloma, lymphoma. Patients with non-cancerous conditions who require intravenous (by drip) treatment are also seen here. It is located on the first floor of Cork University Hospital and can be accessed from the main hospital entrance or from the Outpatient Department Entrance.

Hereditary Coagulation Disorders Service

The new Cork Coagulation Centre provides outpatient and day care to people with hereditary coagulation disorders. On entering the hospital ground turn right and second left. There is a let-down area and disabled parking at the entrance.

Outpatient Services

General Haematology outpatient clinics are held on Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon in the Bandon Suite and on Wednesday morning in the Radiotherapy Department. Anticoagulation (Warfarin) clinics are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, by appointment only. A joint Obstetric/ Haematology clinic is held in the outpatient department of Cork University Maternity Hospital on alternate Monday mornings.
