Social Work

The Medical Social Work Department offers a number of services to patients and their families. The service focuses on the social and emotional aspects linked to a patient’s admission to hospital and involves working with those who may experience distress, crisis, trauma, breach of safety, bereavement and adjustment to loss.  

The Social Workers Register opened on 31^st May 2011 and in line with the current statutory framework Medical Social Workers in CUH are registered with CORU and adhere to CORU’s Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Social Workers www.coru.ie
