Purpose of the Post
The CNM3 Cancer Services will help provide seamless care for all patients who access the service. The post holder plays a pivotal role within a multidisciplinary team and plays a central role in the management of activities, planning, co-ordinating and evaluation of cancer services for patients and their families and is responsible for contributing to the maintenance of the cancer database within the hospital. The CNM3 Cancer Services will communicate, negotiate and represent the patient's values with other professionals within the multidisciplinary team e.g. GPs and Public Health Nurses and will help patients obtain optimal treatment taking into account their special needs.
The post holder will identify new and existing services to ensure delivery of a patient focused service and is responsible for maintaining links with the Nurse Specialists, Business Managers for Oncology and Surgery and other professionals in all referring hospitals. They will attend multidisciplinary meetings, where appropriate, and ensure that patient treatment plans are initiated and implemented in a seamless manner.
The post holder will have a pivotal role in service planning, development, implementation, co-coordination and management of activity and resources within the Cancer Service. The CNM 3‘s responsibilities include: overseeing the quality of nursing care, the development and implementation of policy and procedures, the monitoring of activity and the delivery of agreed levels of service for the designated areas. The CNM3 plays a key role in providing clinical and professional leadership and promoting the values of the organisation, the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and HIQA standards.
In fulfilling their role, the post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team for cancer care and will be responsible for leading and working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the cancer strategy.
