Cork University Hospital, abbreviated as CUH, is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland with over 40 different medical and surgical specialties on the campus housing 1000 in-patient beds.
CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million.
A new state of the art Radiation Oncology facility is now open and houses cutting edge technology including 5 Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerators capable of SABR/SRS along with Surface-guided radiotherapy on all Linac’s. The department also has 2 GE CT simulators and a brachytherapy suite.
Purpose of the Post:
Responsible for the co-ordination and management of all clinical trials involving Radiation Oncology.
Clinical Trials Radiation Therapist will lead, guide and work autonomously to ensure that all clinical trials involving Radiation Oncology comply with Good Clinical Practice, Ethical, Governance and Regulatory Guidelines.
The post holder will co-ordinate and participate in clinical research studies conducted by Cork University Hospital and work with the Cancer trials unit in the radiation oncology department.
The post holder, will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary quality assurance and research governance aspects are met and documentation completed as required for all radiation oncology clinical trials. The clinical trials research radiation therapist will also be actively involved in the initial design and co-ordination of any future trials which may be requested by future service developments.
