ROLE: Consultant Physician In Geriatric Medicine
Location: Mallow General Hospital for 30 hours per week and Cork University Hospital for 7 hours

The appointee to this post will provide care across all areas of general medicine and will have expertise in the area of Geriatric Medicine. The appointee will have access to the existing bed cohort both inpatient and day beds.
The new post holder will work with their geriatric colleague and with hospital colleagues in the specialties of gastroenterology, cardiology, respiratory and endocrinology to provide a general medicine service including an on-call commitment to the MAU. The post holder will also work to expand the geriatric medicine service already provided in the hospital. In addition the post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues in the integrated care hubs for older persons and develop care pathways to promote seamless integration of care for patients The team at Mallow General Hospital attached to this post include a registrar, senior house officer and intern which will be shared with the existing geriatrician in MGH.
There is also a dedicated CNS for older persons as well as a discharge coordinator both of whom the post holder will work closely with. In addition the hospital team includes Health and Social Care professionals in physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as speech and language therapy. The hospital has also recently advertised for a social worker.
