About CUH

The group comprises 3 acute hospitals, Cork University Hospital Wilton (Model 4), Mallow General Hospital (Model 2) and Bantry General Hospital (the only Model 2R [Rural] in the state), 2 community inpatient units (St. Finbarr’s Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and Riverstick Transitional Care Unit), a nursing home (St Josephs) and a range of satellite outpatient and administration units.
CUH currently employs over 5,000 staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in University College Cork (UCC) thus making it a very significant employer in the region. As an internationally recognised centre of excellence, the quality and professionalism of our staff is of paramount importance. Our strong association with University College Cork and our role as a major academic teaching hospital strengthen our aim to be the employer of choice for people seeking a career in the health service in Ireland.
People Strategy at CUH
The People Strategy 2019 – 2024 sets out the future direction for the development of our people services across the healthcare system. It is focused on our shared purpose – to deliver services that are valued by the public and by our staff.
The three key areas are:
Leadership: Taking responsibility to work together to deliver ‘safer better healthcare’.
Talent: Having the right people with the right blend of skills in place to deliver our services and enable transition to new models of integrated care.
Capability: Developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to continually improve and transform our services – strengthening trust in the organisation and delivering ‘public value’
The People Strategy will increase our capacity to deliver Sláintecare – signalling a new direction for healthcare in Ireland, delivering a health and social care service that meets the needs of the population and attracts and retains the very best staff.
