What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with human function and movement to maximise potential. Physiotherapists use evidence-based exercise and approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being.
How can Physiotherapy help me?
Physiotherapists can help patients throughout their cancer journey and can help with problems and possible treatment side effects including reduced mobility, pain, fatigue and lymphoedema.
How do I access Physiotherapy service?
If you are an inpatient, you can be seen when your doctor makes a referral to physiotherapy. As an outpatient, you can be referred by your doctor for physiotherapy in the outpatient setting. Who are the team?
Nora Bradley, Stephanie Corkery and Jane Prendergast are the physiotherapists working in oncology in CUH.
What will happen when I arrive?
As an outpatient your appointment will be in the orchid centre or the physiotherapy department (this will be outlined to you at the time of your appointment). When you arrive, present initially to reception and a member of the physiotherapy team will meet you at reception.
