The Division of General Surgery / Urology encompassing Vascular Surgery provides diagnostic, therapeutic and surveillance services to the South of Ireland in an academic environment with specific emphasis on Surgical Oncology, Vascular Surgery, Urology and Colorectal Surgery. The seven full-time and 4 part-time consultant surgeons each have subspecialty expertise, with expressed interest in different surgical diseases. Cork University Hospital is a regional cancer centre with particular emphasis on Breast and Colorectal cancer. CUH is an acknowledged centre of excellence for Breast Disease.

The vascular surgery services are provided in a multidisciplinary environment with a special emphasis on minimally invasive endovascular therapies.

Our facilities include: 

  • Operating Theatre
  • Surgical Ward and General Intensive Care Unit for in-patient care
  • Hybrid Theatre: A dedicated vascular operating theatre specially designed for minimally invasive (endovascular) interventions
  • Ambulatory Veins Unit: A dedicated unit specifically for minimally invasive (local anaesthetic) treatment of varicose veins
