Members of the Department have an extensive bibliography in the medical literature. We encourage and support ongoing education/professional development for all staff.

Dr Michael Clarkson is a previous recipient of a Program Project Grant entitled ‘The Role of Tim-1 in Alloimmunity’ from the Health Research Board Grant. He is Principle Investigator of the Dolomite Clinical Trial investigating the role of a novel erythropoesis stimulating agent in CKD-associated anaemia. He is also PI in two investigator led trials in small vessel vasculitis; DCVAS and RITAZAREM. His other interests include the role of complement in small vessel vasculitis.

Professor Joseph Eustace is Director of the HRB-funded Clinical Trial Facility at University College Cork. He is Principal Investigator in the SONAR study evaluating Atrasentan in diabetic patients with CKD. His other main areas of research interest are in the metabolic bone complications of CKD, hyponatremia and Vitamin D metabolism.
