Professional History: Dr. Marek J. Mazur graduated from the University Medical School, Bydgoszcz, Poland (1991). After completing his internship in Poland he joined Dr. John Kane’s laboratory at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California, San Francisco (1994-1996). He finished his Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Easton Hospital, Pennsyvania (Hahnemann University Affiliate) (1996-1999) having served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine (1998-1999). He completed a Fellowship in Nephrology at the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston (1999-2001) and in Transplant Medicine at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota. (2001-2002). He was appointed an Instructor in Medicine at College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic in 2002 and Assistant Professor in Medicine in 2003. In 2002 he joined Division of Transplantation Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Arizona as a Senior Associate Consultant and in 2005 was promoted to a Consultant in Nephrology and Transplantation with joint appointment in Division of Nephrology & Hypertension, Department of Internal Medicine, as well as Division of Transplantation Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Arizona. He was one of the founders of a Pancreas Transplant Program at the Mayo Clinic Arizona and served as a Medical Director of Pancreas Transplant Program since 2003 till 2010. Dr. Mazur joined CUH Renal Medicine team as a Renal Consultant in June 2010. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer I Nephrology at University College Cork and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. Dr. Mazur is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology with American Board of Internal Medicine. He holds full registration with Irish Medical Council and is included in Irish Medical Council Register of Medical Specialists in both General (Internal) Medicine and Nephrology. He is a member of American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Transplantation and Irish Society of Nephrology. Dr. Mazur authored or co-authored over 20 peer reviewed scientific papers and over 50 abstracts. Dr. Mazur participates in provision of renal services to Kerry General Hospital and speaks fluent English and Polish. |
