We maintain close links with University College Cork in providing education to medical students, and receive many students for elective training each year. This number has grown significantly in recent times as has the popularity of the specialty. We have a strong academic record, with an emphasis on peripheral nerve blockade, the use of simulation in training, and have daily teaching sessions in CUH and frequent tutorials focussing on exam preparation. Our record in preparing candidates for exams and indeed in helping those seeking appointment to the national Anaesthesia training program is good, and we endeavour to offer the best calibre of trainee to the College of Anaesthetists’ Specialist Anaesthesia Training (SAT) scheme.
