Access to Services

The Medical Social Work Department is an acute service primarily focused on inpatient care; we accept referrals from the multi-disciplinary team and from outside agencies and professionals. If you feel that you would benefit from Medical Social Work input please ask your health care professional to make a referral; alternatively you can visit our office which is located on the main concourse of CUH (next to the shop) and is open from Monday-Friday 8am-4pm excluding public holidays. 

Our service does not deal directly with any social welfare claims or enquiries. Patients or family members seeking support in relation to welfare issues should contact their local Social Welfare Office or contact citizens information. 

There is currently no out of hours Medical Social Work Service, however should you feel that a child is at risk of immediate and serious harm there is an out of hours service operated by the Child & Family Agency, this service can be accessed by contacting the local Garda Station.
