Education & Research
CUH is a teaching hospital affiliated to University College Cork. There is a strong commitment to research and education within the hospital. Pharmacists are also involved in practice-based audit, in the education of undergraduates (in medicine, nursing and pharmacy), in ongoing nurse and medical education and in various other educational initiatives. A number of staff have undertaken further education including MScs and diplomas in Clinical Pharmacy, certificates in purchase and clinical technician diplomas. These have been supported by the department and by CUH.
A shared post with UCC Dept of Clinical Pharmacy has facilitated the development of the pharmacist-led anticoagulation clinic at CUH and also a number of summer student research projects and MSc projects within CUH. This has contributed to the development of audit and research within the dept.
