Hambury Academy of Music & Theatre

24 April 2019

The 65th Cork International Choral Festival 2019 at CUH

The Arts Department invites you to a Free Concert by the Hamburg Academy of Music & Theatre (Germany) Choir Thursday 2nd May at 3pm - CUH CRC Atrium

All welcome to attend

The Hamburg Academy of Music and Theatre Choir formed in September 2013. It performs acappella repertoire from all historical periods and regularly collaborates
with the Academy Orchestra on larger works, including oratorios. Their conductor, Professor Cornelius Trantow, is Professor of Choral Conducting at the Academy since 1999.

The choir offers experienced singers the opportunity to work on choral repertoire to a high level. Weekly rehearsals aim to develop each member’s choral skills and vocal technique, and provide an opportunity for conducting students to lead rehearsals and conduct parts of concerts.

In October 2017, the choir won the Regional Choir Competition in Hamburg in the mixed choirs category. At the National Choir Competition in Freiburg in May 2018 it attained the highest score awarded in the entire competition.

This is a free public event and can line managers please inform the staff, patients, family, visitors and the general public to attend, please see the link to the poster here. Research has shown that music can help patients in their recovery process and is especially linked to stress reduction.

Thank you to Cork Choral Festival for including CUH in their Community performance venues. You can visit https://www.corkchoral.ie to get a detailed profile of the choir and
other choral events in Cork City & County.

Please contact Arts Coordinator Edelle Nolan on 086-7714617 if you have any queries or need assistance to get patients to the performance.
