Inaugural Midwifery Conference Celebrating Midwives’ Week 27 April 2016
The South South West Hospital Group Inaugural Midwifery Conference celebrating midwives’ week is on Tuesday, May 3rd 2016. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the excellent work being completed by midwives in Cork University Maternity Hospital, Kerry General Hospital, University Hospital Waterford and South Tipperary General Hospital and disseminate that knowledge to a wider audience to enhance maternity and infant care.
The main aim of the conference is to enhance professionals’ knowledge, so that midwifery practice is based on best practice standards and current evidence and encompasses the recommendations of the recently published Maternity Strategy 2016.
The keynote speaker is Ms Susan Kent, Department of Health and Children who will give a presentation on “The National Maternity Strategy”.
The programme will also focus on Normal Birth, Breastfeeding, the MN-CMS Electronic Chart, Perinatal Mental Health, Clinical Handover and Caring for the Carer.
Poster presentations will be on display during the day. This will provide an excellent opportunity for attendees to view further research based topics on maternal and infant health and related initiatives.
The organising committee would like to thank the NMPDU HSE South for funding the Conference.
