Day Care Services
The Clinical Haematology Day Unit is accessed via the Dunmanway Day Unit. It is located on the first floor of Cork University Hospital and can be accessed from the main hospital entrance or from the Outpatient Department Entrance. The unit is open Monday- Friday, 9:00a.m- 5:00p.m.
Hereditary Coagulation Disorders Service
Patients can access the service by office no, mobile no, e mail, and the centre has a drop in service so patients can call in 8:30am-5:00pm Monday to Friday. Patients are given a card with contact numbers and there is a 24 hour registrar on call. The centre is on the WFH website especially for those not residing in Ireland. On entering the hospital ground turn right and second left. There is a let-down area and disabled parking at the entrance.
Haematology outpatient clinics are held throughout the week in the Out Patients Department (OPD), next to A&E. Anticoagulation (Warfarin) clinics are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings (9:00am -12:00pm), by appointment only. A joint Obstetric/ Haematology clinic is held in the outpatient department of Cork University Maternity Hospital on alternate Monday mornings.
When a new patient is referred to the Haematology Department by their GP or from within hospital an appointment is made by one of the secretaries, the patient will receive an appointment letter stating the location, time and date of the appointment. Return appointments are made at reception before patients leave the clinic, if the appointment cannot be made at reception the patient will be contacted by a secretary with an appointment.
