Services Provided

The services provided include: 

  • Maintenance of medical devices equipment, either directly or indirectly through the management of the provision of the maintenance service 
  • Acting as a single point of contact for medical devices equipment service contracts. In collaboration with the various clinical areas coordinate and collate budget service contract costs for the Finance Department, ensuring that the costs are in line with national agreements and tender outcomes. We work with the Purchasing Department who issue the relevant purchase order numbers. 
  • Maintenance of records relating to the maintenance of medical devices equipment 
  • Maintenance of medical devices equipment asset register 
  • Support in the management of the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) (formerly known as the Irish Medicine Board (IMB)) Safety Notices/Alerts and Manufacturer’s Field Safety Notices pertaining to medical devices equipment 
  • Support to clinical users or researchers via the provision of technical advice and technical support 
  • Support conformance of the hospital to relevant standards, legislation and national guidelines 
  • To assist in the organization of user training for medical devices equipment users as requested by clinical department/service/ward/area 
  • Support for the replacement of medical devices equipment via the provision of technical advice and technical support 
  • Maintaining the master copy of the medical devices equipment replacement list 
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical teams 
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary procurement teams 
  • Support hospital management regarding the development and implementation of new services
