SCRUBS CUH Workplace choir
New season starts Aug 29th: New members welcome
“It really is something that I can look forward to all day at work. It’s been a fantastic experience”. Choir rehearsals with Patrick Dalton, our musical director, are a lot of fun and are often a highlight of the working week for choir members
SCRUBS is a unique opportunity for colleagues from different departments and different levels of the organisation to meet, and to make great friends in the process.
Members benefit from the self-confidence that choral performance provides. It improves their communication and presentation skills. As well as reducing stress, it also boosts productivity, creativity and general wellbeing in the workplace.
We benefit from having our own choir to perform at special occasions, both happy and sad. Since we started in June 2015, our participation in community & charity events has helped raise funds for many good causes.
Finalists in Lyric FM Workplace Choir competition 2015 & 2017;
Commended at Feis Maitiu & Cork International Choral Festival;
4 ‘Yesses’ from the judges in ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ live show in Birmingham Feb 2017;
Don’t just take our word for it
‘Group singing is cheaper than therapy, healthier than drinking, and certainly more fun than working out. It is the one thing in life where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed. Even if you walked into rehearsal exhausted and depressed, by the end of the night you’ll walk out high as a kite on endorphins and good will. (‘Singing Changes Your Brain’ article in Time Magazine)
Rehearsals every Tues 5-7pm, resuming Tues Aug 29th @ 5pm, Staff Canteen.
There are no auditions to join SCRUBS and nobody has to sing solo.
You don’t need to read music or have any previous experience of singing in a choir
Membership is open to all current and retired members of staff who have worked on the Cork University Hospital campus.
