Radio/Silence, An interactive radio game by teenagers on the paediatric ward
CUH Radio 102fm Tune in and take part!
Artist Eszter Némethi has been developing captivating stories and games with teenagers on the paediatric ward as part of Cloudlands, an artist-in-residence project led by Helium, the children’s arts and health organisation. Now the teenagers’ imaginings will come to life in Radio/Silence, an interactive radio game which invites radio listeners throughout the hospital to take part using their mobile phones and decide what the outcome of the game will be. The game uses answering machine to allow participants to make choices using the numbers on their keypads and can opt for different paths to follow.
The teenagers’ stories have been woven into a narrative by Némethi and will be recorded by professional voice actors, with sound designer Carl Kennedy and Tom Swift of the Performance Corporation part of the creative team. Dial in, choose to be a hero (or not) and decide how the game ends!
The broadcast can also be accessed at www.helium.ie
Cloudlands at Cork University Hospital is funded by the Arts Council, Cork City Council Arts Office and HSE South.
