Health and Safety Awareness Week
We are pleased to announce the inaugural Health and
Safety Week for Cork University Hospital to be held from 30th January
to 3rd February 2017.
In light of the inception of the National Health &
Safety Function and the initiation of Level 1 Audits in 2016, we recognise that
there are many opportunities for us to increase awareness of staff safety
Given that the Level 1 Audit Tool identifies the requirement
for Chemical Safety Training, we are now offering Chemical Safety Awareness and
Spill Training on Monday 30th January. This training is
applicable to all staff who handle chemicals, whether Pharmacy, Laboratory,
Biomedical, Household, Catering, Clinical, Maintenance, Portering etc.
This training will fulfil the training requirement as identified in the Level 1
The Medical Gas Safety Awareness presentation is a general
awareness session and is not a training session, but it will provide very
important learning opportunity for all of those handling or transporting
medical gas/oxygen cylinders at clinical and non-clinical level.
The other seminars, which are being held in the Auditorium
and the Information Stands in the Canteen throughout the week, will be of
interest to all staff and as Managers we would like you to facilitate as many

the CUH Auditorium, with the exception of the Stress Seminar on Friday 3rd
that the Stress Management Seminar on Friday 03rd February is being
facilitated by the National Health & Safety Function and to reserve a place
