For the very  first time, Cork University Hospital is participating in the programme of events to celebrate Cork City Culture Night on Friday 18th September.

Culture Night is an immensely popular event and it has a very positive impact on the city.  The organised events have to be free to the public, entertaining/interesting, physically accessible and safe. It is an occasion to collectively celebrate everything our City has to offer in terms of culture, heritage and entertainment. For organisations and venues it can be a way to say thank you to patrons and an opportunity to attract new visitors. A total of 100 venues took part in 2014, with approximately 33,000 individual visits on the night despite the rain.

CUH Choir group SCRUBS

‘Scrubs’ Workplace Choir & Guest Choir performance in the Cardiac Renal Centre Atrium, 5.00pm - 6.00pm

A new choir in CUH called SCRUBS was launched on the 19th May during the CUH Midsummer music festival. With over 75 staff members under the direction of Patrick Dalton, this brand-new choir has been specially formed to represent the hospital in the 2015 Workplace Choir of the Year, run by HM1 Arts in association RTÉ lyric fm.

The choir members are diverse. So far we have doctors, nurses, admin, catering, porters and allied health professionals in our ranks. There is a healthy mix of choral veterans and novices, some resuming careers that have been dormant since school days. Good luck to all involved.
